How Effective is the iPad as a Business Tool?

Posted by admin on May 20, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
Right from the start the iPad was marketed as one of the best unique devices to be launched on the market. It’s screen size and ability to render amazing images as well as it’s great video playback lives up to this claim. However, there is more to the iPad than just this because the device offers business-savvy users some very interesting apps they can really benefit from. Although Apple is pretty independent, it does however, have in-built support for Microsoft [...] Source: http://tabletbuzzblog.com/how-effective-is-the-ipad-as-a-business-tool/ Alicia Keys Alicia Witt Amanda...

Gogo and AeroSat get friendly on Ku-band, bring international in-flight WiFi closer

Posted by admin on May 20, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
Gogo has a virtual lock on in-flight WiFi for the US, but most of us forget that everything goes dark the moment you decide to cross the border. The company already has a deal with Inmarsat for Ka-band Internet connections, and now it’s partnering up with AeroSat to bring Ku-band satellite access. The tie-in will let Gogo offer precious relief from tedium on international flights, whether it’s a modest hop to the Great White North or an hours-long trip across the ocean. Gogo considers the deal an interim step until Inmarsat’s technology is ready, making for much quicker...

Can a Fresher Flickr Be Yahoo’s Ray of Sunshine?

Flickr announced a redesign recently, introducing larger onscreen displays for high-res images. The photo sharing site launched what it calls its “liquid layout,” stating that “Large sizes + Low compression = Beautiful photos.” Since Flickr uses less compression than many other image sharing sites, it claimed, the detail and color of Flickr photos is richer. Researchers tout efficiency breakthrough with new ‘inexact’ chip

Posted by admin on May 20, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
Accuracy is generally an important consideration in computer chips, but a team of researchers led by Rice University are touting a new “inexact” chip (dubbed PCMOS) that they say could lead to as much as a fifteen-fold increase in efficiency. Their latest work, which won a best paper award at a recent ACM conference, builds on years of research in the field from the university, and is already moving far beyond the lab — some inexact hardware is being used in the “i-slate” educational tablet developed by the Rice-NTU Institute for Sustainable and Applied...

The Engadget Show is live, here at 6:00PM ET!

Man, what a show we’ve got for you this month. For starters, we popped by the Smithsonian, to check out the museum’s Art of the Video Game exhibit. And while the awesome Fifth Avenue Frogger game didn’t actually make it into those hallowed halls, we did take a close up look at the hacked arcade cabinet for the show. Speaking of video games (which we seem to be doing a lot these days), we’ll also pay a visit to the newly reborn Chinatown Fair and speak to the directors of Indie Game: The Movie. All of that, plus a performance by musician Alex Winston and the...

Best Buy changes its tune, has no idea when the EVO 4G LTE is shipping

Posted by admin on May 20, 2012 in Uncategorized | 0 comments
Can't say we're overly surprised to see this one, but it doesn't make it any less disappointing. Best Buy early today sent ?another? e-mail to customers who preordered the HTC EVO 4G LTE, saying that, whoopsie, it doesn't actually know when the Customs hold will lift and the EVO will be allowed to ship. This comes less than a day after Best Buy got hopes up by saying May 23 was the new target date, which was quickly followed by HTC telling us it had nothing new to announce. So, yeah. And yes, there are plenty of "insider" sources feeding possible dates,...
